Quick answer
Pick a plan that covers your whole trip, check the speed after any fair-use limit, and confirm hotspot support if you'll share data. Install it on Wi-Fi before you fly.
1. Match the plan to your trip length
Plans are sold by days. Choose one that lasts at least as long as your stay — a 10-day trip needs a 15-day plan, not a 7-day one.
2. Decide: fixed data or unlimited
| If you mostly… | Consider |
|---|---|
| Use maps, messages and some browsing | 3–5 GB |
| Post photos and videos, video call home | 10 GB or more |
| Stream, work remotely or share hotspot | Unlimited (check the fair-use limit) |
Not sure? Read how much data you need for 7 days.
3. Read the fair-use line
Many “unlimited” plans give a daily amount of full-speed data, then slow down. 5 GB/day, then 1 Mbps is very different from true unlimited full speed. We show both numbers on every plan.
4. Check hotspot and networks
- Hotspot — needed if you want to connect a laptop or a travel partner's phone.
- Networks — see which local operators your eSIM uses.
- 5G — nice to have; LTE is fast enough for most travel use.
5. Install before you go
Install on Wi-Fi at home, keep it switched off, and turn it on after landing. Then enable Data Roaming for the eSIM line. Full steps are in our installation guide.
Staying long-term?
Travel eSIMs are made for visits. If you'll live in Turkey, check official rules on registering phones with local SIM cards.
